About Us

How it all started

Hi, my name is Sandra Chaplin, owner/operator of Chappy Girls Jewelry. I have been fascinated with jewelry since I was 12 years old and bring 30 years of industry experience into my business.

1972

I joined a jewelry club working with findings and selling the jewelry door to door. 50% of the money went directly to charity and the other 50% went to help pay for extracurricular activities such as bowling and the swim club. I was able to learn so much about birthstones and different metals. Here is a photo of one of the first pieces of jewelry I made.

After college I took a summer job at Littman jewelers which later became full time job at Littman’s, where I learned the beauty of Rolex watches and about diamond grading precious and semi precious stones.

1982

I began working with a team of master jewelers at Masciarelli Jewelers, an American Gem Society shop that specialized in diamond grading and jewelry appraisals.

1986-2004

Here is where life really began! My husband, Mark, and I had four kids which kept us very busy, but I still managed to find time to work as a freelance artist working with acrylics and water colors creating designs on walls, furniture, paper and even designing invitations!

2004

I had an accident that shattered my wrist. I was one of the first individuals to be blessed with a titanium wrist where the more you use your wrist the more function you will have. To use my wrist, I took up knitting, needlepoint, etc, but wanted to get back into making jewelry. I created a home studio and started making sterling silver jump rings (chain maille jewelry) and silver tubing.

I created so much jewelry that my husband signed me up as a vendor at the Wachusett Mountain Applefest. The event was so successful that I started regularly attending craft fairs and events and from that point on, my business took off by leaps and bounds!
